Background: What Is PHPverse?

PHPverse launched in 2025 as a one-day community-driven conference celebrating PHP’s 30th anniversary. The inaugural event drew over 15,000 live viewers worldwide and generated widespread praise from the PHP community.

Last year’s lineup included sessions on FrankenPHP, Symfony’s 20-year journey, MCP in PHP, and a Q&A with Taylor Otwell. Organizers used feedback from 2025 to shape the 2026 edition, adding more interactive elements and a broader range of topics.

“The energy last year was incredible – we knew we had to make this an annual tradition,” said Nuno Maduro. “PHP developers want a space to learn, debate, and celebrate their craft.”

What This Means for the PHP Ecosystem

PHPverse 2026 signals a growing recognition of PHP’s role in modern web development. With talks on AI integration, language evolution, and community governance, the event reflects how the ecosystem is adapting to industry shifts.

For developers, this conference offers a rare chance to hear directly from framework creators, tool maintainers, and standards bodies like the PHP Foundation. Attendees can expect practical takeaways on topics like Packagist internals, PHP RFC proposals, and AI-assisted coding workflows.

“PHP is not just alive – it’s thriving,” stated Elizabeth Barron of the PHP Foundation. “Events like PHPverse help sustain that momentum by connecting the people who build PHP with those who use it every day.”

Developers are encouraged to register now and save the date. Recordings of last year’s talks remain available on the PHP Annotated channel for those who missed the 2025 edition.
